Fear and Loathing ...in Paris

I finished Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas a few days ago.

I leave for France in less than 24 hours. I leave for France in less than a day, and I am incredibly, unbearably nervous and unprepared. Seriously, I haven't even finished packing.

As always, the mandatory security books are coming with me. I'm bringing The Great Gatsby, because I have to read it for English, and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, because I want to finish it. Fear and Loathing has been demanding to be read again, but I'm still deciding whether I should bring it or not.

As I debate this, I pick up and examine the book. Bent corners, marks, and far too many passages underlined than there probably should be. One in particular stands out.

"Everything seems to be ready.
Are you Ready?
Ready?"

No.

"Well why not?"

I'm taking it with me.

I am now.

Coming Soon!

Coming soon- The Great Gatsby playlist!

For our English blog project (i.e., the reason this blog was set up), I will be creating a playlist (courtesy of project playlist) of songs that remind me of characters/events/elements of the story, and some music that I listened to while reading.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water.....again.

Did you know that there are jellyfish that are technically immortal? There are. While this is technically old news (try two months) there has been an alarming lack of public knowledge of this phenomenon.

Scientists have been puzzled for decades by a jellyfish population boom, only to discover that certain jellyfish do not die naturally. Unlike most jellyfish, who go from planulae->polyp->polyp colony->jellyfish->death, the creatively named Immortal Jellyfish can revert back to the polyp colony, restarting its life and going on to create thousands of new genetically identical jellyfish, who will continue this cycle.

Any recent creation of militia groups to combat our future Jellyfish Overlords has not been reported.
